We Asked... You Answered: Newborn Must Haves

On our facebook page, we asked "What baby product would you consider 'a must' in newborn care?" You answered with a ton of great suggestions!

Seven of you said you can't live without swaddle blankets, Aden and Anais was the most popular brand. Three people recommended baby mittens to keep baby from scratching with their 'too tiny to cut' nails. A few parents highly recommended having a travel play yard/bed; Graco Pack N Play and Nap Nanny were top choices. A couple of you said you can't live without your nursing pillows; Boppy and My Brest Friend were the most used brands. And two parents said they have to have a baby carrier, such as Ergo and Baby Bjorn.

Other top items were:

• Diapers, whether cloth or disposable, having something to contain the poo is a must I would say
• Burp Cloths, unless you don't mind wearing spit up every day
• Footie sleepers with snaps (my baby lived in these) one piece to cover every inch of delicate baby skin, and snaps make for easier diaper changes
• Sleep Sacks, for swaddle hating babies
• A Complete Baby Care Kit with nasal aspirator, nail file/clippers, medicine dropper, etc.
• Gripe Water for gassy tummies
• A Crib Tent, especially if there is toddler aged siblings in the mix who like to 'share' with baby while they are sleeping
• Lanolin cream for nursing moms - I would also add bra pads to this list as well

Sarah Gilbert of Wallet Pop adds an infant car seat, a bed with a water proof matress cover, and lots of books, as well as a baby carrier like many of our customers recommended.

Graco Baby Announces High Chair Recall on Harmony High Chairs

Graco announced a voluntary recall for the Harmony™ High Chair due to a potential fall hazard to children.  If you own one or more of the Harmony™ High Chairs, there is no need to return the product; Graco is providing a free repair kit upon request.

The Problem:
The screws holding the front legs of the high chair can loosen and fall out and/or the plastic bracket on the rear legs can crack causing the high chair to become unstable and tip over unexpectedly. This poses a fall hazard to children.

• Number of Units Affected: About 1.2 million in the United States and 35,000 in Canada
• Dates Produced: November 2003 through December 2009

Britax Frontier - "We finally have detailed information!"

Have you been searching for information on Britax's newest seat, the Frontier? Are you tired of checking Britax's website and only seeing the image to the left? Look no further because we just found out the detailed specs of the new Britax Frontier.

The Frontier™ Harness-2-Booster™ seat is a combination booster seat that will include best-in-class forward-facing five-point harnessed weight capacity and also serve as a vehicle belt positioning booster. This seat is the highest weight rated seat with the use of the 5 pt harness from 25 to 80 lbs and as a belt positioning booster from 40 to 100 lbs. You must secure the top tether when using the seat with the 5 pt harness.

The Britax Frontier will be available in four fashions upon it's release in early May - Canyon, Red Rock, Rushmore & Pink Sky. Click any of the highlighted links to view all the patterns on our website. The MSRP will be $279.99.

If you are wanting even more detailed information, like harness slot heights or seating area dimensions see the chart below. In my opinion this seat will end up replacing the Britax Regent which is enormous and does not easily fit in many cars. It will also take over the Britax Monarch sales as people will not need to purchase a booster seat if they already purchased the Britax Frontier. Britax's competitor's are finally producing car seats that rival some of the Britax offerings - Graco Nautilus and First Years True-Fit Convertible for example. With the Britax Frontier, they continue to push the envelope on feature filled car seats for your growing child. What's next? No word if the Britax Advocate will ever be released, but they will continue to be at the leading edge of car seat safety and technology.
